1. headword คือ คำที่เขียนในรูปแบบเดียวกัน อ่านเหมือนกัน
2. homophone คือ คำที่อ่านออกเสียงเหมือนกัน

3. homograph คือ คำที่มีความหมายเหมือนกัน 

4. compound word คือ คำที่นำมาเขียนรวมกันแล้วมีความหมายต่างไปจากเดิม แยกกันก็จะมีความหมายเพิ่มอีก

5. word class คือ คำที่ใช้บอก คำนาม กิรยา กรรม

ตามความหมายจริง

Headword   is the first word of an entry in a dictionary. It is listed alphabetically.Headword  คือ คำที่เราต้องการค้นหา หรือคำแรกที่ขึ้นต้นในหน้าที่เรากำลังค้นหานั้นเอง

          word class คืิอ หนึ่งในกลุ่มไวยากรณ์เช่นคำนามคำกริยาและคำคุณศัพท์, คำเป็นที่จะถูกแบ่งออกไปขึ้น อยู่กับการใช้งานของพวกเขา
            homophone คือ คำที่ออกเสียงเหมือนกับคำอื่น แต่มีความหมายที่แตกต่างกันหรือการสะกดคำที่แตกต่างกันหรือทั้งสองอย่าง
         The words 'so' and 'sew' are homophones.
            homograph คือ คำที่ถูกสะกดเช่นเดียวกับคำอื่นและอาจจะมีการออกเสียงเหมือนกันหรือแตกต่างกัน แต่ที่มีความหมายแตกต่าง

      ' Bow' meaning the front of a ship, 'bow' meaning a loop made in a string or ribbon and 'bow' meaning a device used to shoot arrows are all homographs.


       compound word คือ  ในไวยากรณ์, คำซึ่งผสมผสานการสองคนหรือบางครั้งคำพูดของที่แตกต่างกันเพิ่มเติม บ่อยครั้งที่ความหมายของสารที่ไม่สามารถค้นพบโดยไม่รู้ความหมายของคำที่แตกต่างกันที่รูปแบบมัน สารประกอบที่สามารถเขียนไม่ว่าจะเป็นหนึ่งคำหรือแยกคำว่า

จ๊ะจ๋า 3 Homophones, Homographs 

     จ๊ะจ๋าภาษาอังกฤษ ตอนที่ ๓ นี้ ขอขยายความคำว่า HomophonesและHomographs จากตอนที่แล้ว   ตอนที่ผู้เขียนเริ่มเรียนภาษาอังกฤษใหม่ๆ ก็สงสัยมากว่า คำว่า two, too, to ออกเสียงต่างกันอย่างไร  ถามใครๆ ก็ไม่ได้ความกระจ่างซักที  จนได้เรียนวิชาสัทศาสตร์ ได้อ่านภาษา Phonetic จึงได้รู้ว่า คำทั้งสามคำนี้ ออกเสียงเหมือนกันทุกประการ เช่นคำอื่นๆ คือกลุ่มเหล่านี้ที่ออกเสียงเหมือนกัน ที่เราเรียกว่า Homophones¹

     ที่จริงคำ Homophones ยังมีอีกเยอะมาก แต่ยกตัวอย่างมาให้ท่านผู้อ่านแค่นี้ก่อน  คำบางคำ เราก็คิดไม่ถึงเหมือนกันว่าจะออกเสียงเหมือนกัน เช่น ตอนเรียนนับเลขเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ  เราก็จะนับ วัน  ทู  ทรี  โฟร์   ไม่มีใครสอนให้เรานับว่า “ฟอร์” เลยจริงมั้ยคะ

     สำหรับ Homographs จะ เป็นคำที่ เขียนเหมือนกัน แต่มีความหมายต่างกัน มีที่มาต่างกัน บางครั้งออกเสียงเหมือนกัน  แต่บางครั้งก็ออกเสียงต่างกัน เช่นคำว่า “mean” เมื่อเป็นคำกริยาแปลว่า “มีความหมาย”  เมื่อเป็นคำคุณศัพท์แปลว่า “ดุ”  เมื่อเป็นคำนามแปลว่า “ค่าเฉลี่ย”  แต่ทั้งสามคำนี้ ออกเสียงเหมือนกัน คือ “มีน”

     ภาษาอังกฤษก็มีสิ่งที่ชวนให้งง มากอยู่เหมือนกัน อย่าคิดอะไรมากมายเลยนะคะ ขนาดคำง่ายๆ เช่น  go อ่านว่า โก    no อ่านว่า โน    so อ่านว่า โซ   ทีdo กลับไม่อ่านว่า โด แต่อ่านว่าดู  พบกันฉบับหน้าค่ะและอย่าลืมส่งคำถามข้อสงสัยมาที่  siriporn@li-lopburi.com
